I suppose I'm somewhere between believer and skeptic concerning 2012, often depending on what mood I'm in. I do think the world will be destroyed, though how metaphorical the phrase "world will be destroyed" is and when exactly destruction will come.... those I'm not so sure of.
I came upon an article which cleverly pointed out that for the dinosaurs who became extinct, their "world was over" as well. So, does all the evidence for the 2012 phenomenon refer to a disastrous event, an extinction of our species, and extinction of most life on Earth, a destruction of Earth, a destruction of our Solar System, a destruction of...? I could go on.
That the world will be destroyed is my personal belief. Or at least some world. Please understand that I am not forcing this upon you, you should not be obliged to believe it, but please do respect it. Or at least some world. Who knows? Maybe some world is being destroyed right now? When stars are consumed and sucked into black holes, is that not destruction of a world?
The nature of destruction of this planet, or this race, or this solar system or whatever? I don't know. Man-made or natural?
Our Physics teacher, when we learned in a science video today that a max of the Sun's power is coming in 2012 , said it was a coincidence. He said this whole 2012 thing is like how people thought computers wouldn't work in 2000. The most that happens in 2012, he said, happens every year.
So... is it true? Comment please.

Very NIce musey! The video is interesting. That is quite a good point to bring up about species extinction or Earth destruction.... I really don't think it will be to severe... yes there is a suspicious sun spot on the sun that may cause a radiation flare as seen in the video but it would be more severe than the one in the video.... all satallites would be destroyed and would hurtle right back into earth... I think that's as good as its going to get to being close to a meteor... im just worried about fires... melting ice----> floods. Other natural disasters? well i guess were gonna wait and see. Thanks again for the post its very well done as always!

hmmm.... the mayans couldn't be fully wrong. I think, rather than the world ending or some kind of apocalypse occurring, a part of the very soul that is possessed by humanity will die. Something about our spirits, our ability to feel deep emotions, a part of that will be lost. I'm definitely a skeptic about most things. Maybe the world ending in 2012 is a metaphor for our a part of our souls being erased by an unknown force. Somehow I also think the coldness technology provides and how much humans rely on it is a large factor in this destruction of not our physical world, but our world as humans, as people being able to relate to each other, to love, to cry, to laugh.

haha! I want the cookie! I feel like the cookie monster! COOKIES!!!!!!! There is something wrong with the cookiw monster... first it encourages kids to eat cookies and sugar at such a young and delicate age!

There's no evidence or anything, i tend to agree more with alice- maybe technology will take over. Or maybe global warming will destroy us. Besides, our scientists can predict stuff like that, they haven't shown anything happening to the sun in 2012... But that's jsut my opinion.
And I don't think you could say the world will end so lightly. Because if you truly believe that with all your heart you wouldn't have any motivation to do anything in life, so in a sense the world of technology and new discoveries will end. Think about your family, your baby cousins or siblings, they would all be gone then. They wouldn't be able to experience what we have experienced.
